Karen is a consultant, product designer, author, and holds copyrights that focus on the inclusivity of children with neurodiverse and disabilities. She trains and collaborates with teachers, ancillary staff, families, universities, and community organizations on a systematic process of building an interprofessional team using universal screening and practical inclusive interventions.
Karen is an occupational therapist, continues to work in assistive technology promoting inclusion/universal design, and is a part-time adjunct professor teaching a master-level class on pediatric interventions. She believes in companies’ collaboration with a focus on inclusion. During her years in the school district, she trained teachers, paraprofessionals, speech, occupational, and physical therapists, social workers, and administrators on assistive technology and adapting the curriculum. Karen presents locally, nationally, and internationally on inclusivity, assistive technology, classroom intervention, and coordinated inclusive sports.
Her Book titled: Home and School Based Learning "The Hybrid Educational Transdisciplinary Team," Pierce Active Functional Screening, and Pierce Student Performance Tracker are groundbreaking tools, offers interprofessional insights for assessing and teaching children with neurodiverse conditions and/or disabilities, documenting their unique abilities.
